"Four the Record" - Miranda Lambert

I'm not a celebrity blogger of any sort, but I want to say how stoked I am about Miranda Lambert's new album “Four the Record!”

Buy the Record here:

I’ve been listening to her music since 2007. She’s proved herself way beyond a one hit wonder. From “Kerosene” to “Gun Powder and Lead” to “A Heart Like Mine,” and now to “Baggage Claim,” Miranda only proves herself more and more as Music Row powerhouse.  I’ve listened to country music my entire life, and there are only a handful that truly stand out; George Strait, Reba, Martina McBride, Sugarland, George Jones, Johnny Cash, and the likes there of, Miranda can definitely fit snug there in her seat within that list.  Miranda’s not bubble gum country, and she’d definitely got a sound all to her own. She’s young, but she writes and performs well beyond her years, and I love that her music surpasses all generations.

I have to say that one of the things I admire about Miranda Lambert is that she's real. She's still true to her Texan roots, and even though she's got all the fame and fortune anyone could ever ask for...she doesn't act like it.  It's not that common to see these days, and it's a breath of fresh air when you can relate to your favorite artists both lyrically and as a person.

I fell in love with “Baggage Claim” the moment I heard it on the radio. I instantly wanted to learn it.  It’s got a great hook! I’d say it’s a “fun/powerful breakup song, and is definitely a song that can be felt whether female or male.

I haven’t heard the entire album, though I did hear “Safe” when she debuted the album last week live on the radio. (I forget what station…..) It’ll definitely be an instant hit.  But, I’ll wrap this up by saying go purchase “FOUR THE RECORD!”  Roll down the windows to your car, and sing along out loud!

Kudo’s Miranda on your new album, and keep on writing. J

"If Today Was Your Last Day" - Nickelback

"If Today Was Your Last Day"
My best friend gave me the best advice
He said each day's a gift and not a given right
Leave no stone unturned, leave your fears behind
And try to take the path less traveled by
That first step you take is the longest stride

If today was your last day
And tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past
Donate every dime you have?
If today was your last day

Against the grain should be a way of life
What's worth the prize is always worth the fight
Every second counts 'cause there's no second try
So live like you'll never live it twice
Don't take the free ride in your own life

If today was your last day
And tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past
Donate every dime you have?
Would you call old friends you never see?
Reminisce old memories
Would you forgive your enemies?
Would you find that one you're dreamin' of?
Swear up and down to God above
That you finally fall in love
If today was your last day

If today was your last day
Would you make your mark by mending a broken heart?
You know it's never too late to shoot for the stars
Regardless of who you are
So do whatever it takes
'Cause you can't rewind a moment in this life
Let nothin' stand in your way
Cause the hands of time are never on your side

If today was your last day
And tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?

Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past
Donate every dime you have?
Would you call old friends you never see?
Reminisce old memories
Would you forgive your enemies?
Would you find that one you're dreamin' of?
Swear up and down to God above
That you finally fall in love
If today was your last day

If Today Was Your Last Day

"If Today Was Your Last Day" by Nickelback the perfect song.  My sister, Jane, who is just the best person in the world, and probably the world's greatest motivator.  Last year, just before I moved to Seattle, she sent me this song. We are both big believers in following your dreams no matter what happens. I'd been in the same job for almost 10 years and I was unhappy. I knew there was more out there than what I'd been doing, and I was aching for a change, and was planning my move to Seattle, then eventually making my way to Canada.  I had yet to decide on a date to leave. I was nervous yet excited, but was still doing what'd I'd always been doing...waiting.  So, I played the song AND followed long by reading the lyrics. The song was my moment of clarity. I new if I didn't make the change, I'd die regretting it. 2 months later I was in Seattle.

Due to the economy, I had to come back to Texas. The job market wasn't that great, so I decided to move back and save some money.

The dream I'm working towards now, is to one day live in Canada, and I'm headed up there next month!  Again, I'd been playing around with dates, and pondering if it was a good idea to go. Playing around with the "What ifs."  Again, my sister swooped to the rescue. lol I swear I don't know what I'd do without her. I'm going to spending time with my family, and checking out schools to study beauty and/or music, or even something in health care... I will speak on that later. :)  But, I can't wait to see my family and visit the great land of CANADA! :D

I will tell you honestly that I am scared of what might or could happen. And, I do have constantly motivate myself to keep beliving and to keep going for it. Life is hard, that's no joke, and even harder to keep faith that our dreams can come true.  There is one great peice of advice that I've taken from Madonna. It's that if you are afraid to do something, then you must do it. I love that, and it's helped me with alot of things...like performing on stage. EEEK! But, I would still be regretting it, if hadn't.

So, let's take that trip (or set the date, then make the plans), tell that person how you feel....take that leap of faith. The things that you wanted 10 years, 1 year ago, or even last week may not be what you want now. There will some tough times, but there will also be more great times. Things won't always be perfect, but we we learn from them. Dreams may alter or change, but never give up on them. You'll never know what might happen.

"Life's a dance; you learn as you go." - John Michael Montgomery

What would you do if today was your last day?

Here's to Our Dreams

Hey Peeps!

So, I've been doing a little soul searching for a while, and from all of it, I've learned that, for myself, in all this searching, I've been searching for all ways to not go for my true love... music.  For pretty much all of my life, I've loved to perform.  When I was little I used to turn my radio up when my favorite songs came up, and just sang and danced until my parents came in and made me turn it down.  I'd do the same when it came to videos on MTV, VH1 and CMT.  I'd post pictures on the wall from BOP and BIG BOPPER magazine and pretend they were my audience. It's silly, but it made me happy. That's pretty much how I still am today, minus the posters.

I absolutely LOVE music. Some of my favorite musicians/bands are The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Foo Fighters, Nirvana, John Frusciante, Miranda Lambert, Loretta Lynn, Bob Dylan, and on and on. I could make a list for days.  I love all genres it doesn't matter. Whatever mood I'm in is what I listen to. Music is truly soul changing. It can pick you up when you're down, make you relive memories you'd since forgetten with time, and give you inspiration in a time of loss. It touches the heart in so many different ways. I have no idea what I'd do without music.

I've been fiddling with my guitar, Charlie, for about 5 years now, writing a few lyrics down here and there.   But, I've never done anything with them except write them down and try to make the lyrics into something.  In all honesty, I've been scared and intimitated by all of the great musicians out there. It's as if they were hand picked to have these great abilities to create music!  I tend to think too deep into what I do, and it makes it that much harder actually do it. I start thinking, "I'm too old to this. These people are really good, and what do I have to compare?" And, as I get older, I'm starting to battle between conforming and continuing to chase my dreams. Life would just be so much easier if we just conformed and followed the rules of "This is what you're suppose to do at this age, and forget these foolish dreams, and settle." But, the more I deny my what I want to do most, the more depressed and separated I get. I can't do it... So, I don't...and just continue on with other things that just keep me from my actually doing it.....Until now.

I'm over being scared that I can't do.  I have always believed that the impossible is always possible, if you just do it.  So, I've started taking my writing more seriously, and I've started playing at open mics.  It's been a couple of weeks since I've last been to one. But, only because I wanted to start playing my own material. I'm going to be heading back out in the next couple of weeks. I'm learning different ways to record my music w/out having to go into a big studio, and how to be more comfortable w/ Charlie and trust in my soul.  I'm still working a 9-5 job to pay bills, but I know that to make things happen I have to make the change.

I wanted to post this today because I know I'm not the only one who's scared to make the change and go for what I want.  It's scary to put yourself out there, I know.  But if we just put a little more faith in ourselves, we can do it.   Let's jump into the deep end, and learn to swim!  The people that have come before us have proven to us that we can triumph over the to worst any situation.... Did you know that Dave Grohl, the lead singer of the Foo Fighers, was homeless when he signed on as the drummer for Nirvana?  Whatever we want to do, we can do it, we've just got  to do it!

So, I make this promise, and I ask you to join with me. That each day, we will do at least 2 or 3 things, not just 1, that will bring us closer to making our dream a reality.  Whether you want to be an actress/actor, musican, lawyer...whatever your dream may be, remember to keep fighting for it.  We are worth it.

Love,

Teresa

My first gig!:D

Today was an AMAZING day!  I worked on my first official project as a make-up artist today for a popular american food chain. It was so much fun, and everyone was so nice.  I was so nervous, but it was so much fun, and I can't wait to do it again!

Everyone Loves Madonna! :D

I love music so much, and since I have Madonna and the Chili Peppers on constant repeat, my inspiration today was them. :)

I was listening to "Borderline!"

A shot from today.

My First You Yube Video!

I am so excited! I finally posted my first YouTube video!  I know that I my work needs alot of improvement, but one of the first steps of building confidence is letting others see your work. :) So, I wanted to post what I've done so far just to get out there.  I hope you like it. :) Like I said, I'm new to all of this, so I'm still having some issues with the music, so I do apologize if there is no sound.  Please feel free to leave comments. I'm  always open for advice and constructive criticism.

Have Fun

So, you know those days where either the night before or the morning you had no energy, and you felt you were losing passion for your passion...only because it didn't seem like it was ever going to just happen?   I have those days everyday, and I just wanted to share with you today how I fight my way back.

My way of getting my passion and creativity back is just to simply have fun when your doing your art.  HAVE FUN!  Try not to take it TOO serious... meaning, just don't get too stressed out, and have fun while your doing what you love, and do things that motivate you.

My dream is to be an artist in the entertainment industry.  I want to work in the film industry, fashion industry...I want to do it all!  My favorite 3 directors that I dream to work with one day are Peter Jackson, Judd Apatow, and my all time favorite, Gus Van Sant.  I want to work doing hair and makeup on fashion shows, and music videos. I want to do it all.

But, of course, I always find myself stressing that they haven't happened yet, and so I get sad, and start questioning myself, and start slacking because nothing seems to be happening.  And, I don't have all of the tools that a professional artist does, and when I came back to Texas I ended up ditching my curling iron and hair straightener due to luggage weight restrictions.  So, it sucks, but they say when there's a will there's a way right? I think it'll be fun to see what these will do. These are my tools:

But after a few days of feeling "blah" about they things I didn't have, I just pushed myself to ignore those thoughts today, and had fun just playing with my makeup.  I turned on a bunch of my favorite tunes that always cheer me up; the Chili Peppers, Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson (yes, I like Jessica and Brit! LOL, they're music makes you dance, and I love it!) and here's me singing Madonna's  "Express Yourself" while midway through makeup.  I honestly think I look more in pain.. lol.  But, I was having fun, and that's all that matters. :)

One main reason I began blogging is to motivate myself.  My thought was "If it's public, then I have to do it."  It's helped out tremendously. I've learned a little more about my craft, and am getting more excited about it. My goal for this blog too, is to be more confident in myself, and hopefully inspire others as well.

So remember, to have fun, be happy, and when you start questioning your dreams, TURN THE MUSIC UP LOUD and flush out the negative!!!!

You're a Firework

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag
Drifting through the wind
Wanting to start again

Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards
One blow from caving in

Do you ever feel already buried deep
Six feet under scream
But no one seems to hear a thing

Do you know that there's still a chance for you
Cause there's a spark in you

You just gotta ignite the light
And let it shine
Just own the night
Like the Fourth of July

Cause baby you're a firework
Come on show 'em what your worth
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby you're a firework
Come on let your colors burst
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
You're gonna leave 'em fallin' down-own-own

You don't have to feel like a waste of space
You're original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow

Maybe you're reason why all the doors are closed
So you can open one that leads you to the perfect road

Like a lightning bolt, your heart will blow
And when it's time, you'll know

You just gotta ignite the light
And let it shine
Just own the night
Like the Fourth of July

Cause baby you're a firework
Come on show 'em what your worth
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby you're a firework
Come on let your colors burst
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
You're gonna leave 'em fallin' down-own-own

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
It's always been inside of you, you, you
And now it's time to let it through

Cause baby you're a firework
Come on show 'em what your worth
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby you're a firework
Come on let your colors burst
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
You're gonna leave 'em goin "Oh, oh, oh!"

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
